Harvest

Each year, during Harvest time, we raise money for different CAFOD projects. This year we are raising money to help communities to recover from floods in Pakistan. Members of the Growing in Faith Team gave CAFOD envelopes to each child for their families to donate money to help Dr Nasha's mobile team of healthcare professionals to reach people in need.

We also reach out to the local community for donations of food, clothes and toiletry items for the Ace of Clubs, a homeless charity located beside St Mary’s RC Church.

Richard Gordon, the centre manager, visits our school to raise awareness and to talk to the children about how their contributions help the homeless people who come to the centre for support. Children also visit this project to see, first hand, how it serves others. During our Harvest Liturgies, we display items contributed from each class. This year, we donated hundreds of items to the charity. They were very grateful and we thank our families for their generosity.

Through these donations we are living our Mission as Catholics and living out our faith in the world. We are honouring the dignity of others and helping those that live in poverty (option for the poor).

“In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers [or sisters] of mine, you did it to me.”
