Reception - RR - Autumn 2 Week 5 2022

This week in maths, we have been learning about 2D shapes. We went on a shape hunt (inside and outside) of the classroom for rectangles and squares. We talked about their properties. Some children even made their own shape pictures.

In literacy we reread the whole school text: 'I Got The Christmas Spirit'. The children wrote a Christmas list made up of: the names of different types of Christmas food, the people they spend Christmas with and the different types of Christmas decorations they use to decorate their house.

In our topic lessons, the children created a Christmas pudding decoration (as part of  a whole school art project). They are on display in the main hall.

In RE lessons, the children discussed 'Advent' and why its an important time for Christians. The children made a class wreath using a range of materials. They talked about the shape of the wreath and what each candle represents.

During choosing time, the children experimented with ice and made comments about its  changing state. They used vocabulary such as, frozen, melting, liquid, ice cube, water. They experimented with slime and enjoyed playing in the garage roleplay area.
